Popularly known as Casa Furtados, we trace our history to 1935, when we served the local population with authentic Portuguese cuisine. Post-liberation we now serve our local clients as well tourists transiting through Margao station. We still use the original recipes handed down over generations and have added Indian recipes to cater to tourists as well. We have been well-known specially for non-vegetarian food and fresh fish delicacies.
The Portuguese were expert sailors and explorers and their contribution to world food and agriculture is extraordinary. The food is a unique blend of spices and styles of cooking from across the continents they travelled. Furtados brings to you the best of Chicken Xacuti, Chicken Kafreal and Mackerel or Pomfret Reshard that Goa has to offer.
This exclusively Goan recipe is a complex blend of spices used with either Chicken or Mutton (Goat). The result is a hot and aromatic gravy usually had with Goan Bread (Pao) or Rice.
This lip smacking delicacy relies on exotic Malabar spices like pepper, cinnamon and cloves combined with herbs and plenty of chillies. Some of the spices are sourced locally in Goa itself. Generally made with Chicken, succulent pieces coated in green masala are eaten as finger food and combine excellently with a glass of red wine.
Goans live for their fish and gossip regarding “catch of the day” goes head to head with football here. Do call us on the number above to enquire about the catch of the day. The list is sure to entice any sea-food enthusiast. The Goan shoreline provides a rich harvest ofKingfish (Surmai or Visvan)
Generally made with Mackeral (Bangda), a blend of spices is sauteed with onion and herbs and stuffed into the fish. The fish is fried and served whole. If you are in Goa Mackerel Rechado is a must have. Note: The local fishing season is closed during the rains, generally June to Aug. So our apologies if certain fish are unavailable. Some estuary fishes are still available and we make our best efforts to import alternative fish to Goa.
Exclusively portuguese in origin, crabs are cooked and served in an aromatic sauce Seafood, aromatic spices, meats and fine wine, a true reflection of Portugal’s location on the Mediterranean sea and their long presence in Goa.
Our love with meat and seafood continues with our Tandoori recipes and the aroma draws you towards the restaurant. Our tandoori chicken, kebabs and Indian breads (roti, naan, kulcha) are made to order and are very popular take aways. The food is complimented by our fine selection of wines.
